This smoothie requires two ingredients only: coconut water and coconut meat, both found in young coconuts. We absolutely love young coconuts, hence the second recipe this week involving this great food.
Coconut is one of those foods that we can’t get enough of. We like them whole, we like coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut water and desiccated coconut, to name a few.
Coconuts have many health benefits, not only from a food consumption perspective but also from a medicinal perspective. Amongst other things, coconuts fight off bacterial infections, increase metabolism, energy and endurance, keep teeth and bones strong, reduce inflammation and moisturize hair and skin.
This smoothie requires one young coconut and a food processor and will make smoothies for two.
- Chop the top of the young coconut off so that you can easily take the coconut water out – pour this into the food processor
- Scoop the young coconut meat out and add this to the food processor
- Blend until smooth
- Pour the smoothie into two glasses
