Wanting to escape London for a long weekend we decided to venture down to New Forest. New Forest is a beautiful National Park in Southern England – less than two hours away from London by train.
We heard very good things about the Pig hotel and the Lime Wood hotel, both part of the same group of hotels with a strong focus on organic, local and sustainable. At the hotels, everything is driven by the gardener, forager and chef, all right up our alley!
Considering we also love spending time outdoors, we decided to camp in the forest for two nights before spending a night at the Pig followed by a day of spa at Lime Wood.
The luxury at the Pig and Lime Wood were much appreciated after spending two days in the rain!
After incredible food and a long night at the Pig, we hiked for about 90 minutes through the forest to get to the Lime Wood spa, the Herb House, which is located just east of Lyndhurst.
We were welcomed by the friendly staff who seated us at their Raw and Cured food bar where we were served with green juices and a raw snack platter while we filled out our details – not a bad way to be welcomed!
The Herb House takes a holistic approach where they allow guests to fully re-energise. Spread out over three floors as well as garden, you will find the Raw and Cured food bar offering a healthy selection, the Workout studio which offers all kinds of classes, treatment rooms with endless options for pampering, a shop selling luxury brands and an extensive range of pools, sauna’s and steam rooms.
The Herb House was pleasantly quiet due to their weekend policy which only allows guests who stay at one of their hotels during the weekend. We fully indulged in all on offer for a couple of hours and left feeling re-energised!
In summary – the perfect city escape.
